Centra Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center chest program receives grant; Cancer Center receives funds for cancer patient support check

Centra Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center's comprehensive breast cancer program has been chosen as 2011 grant recipients of the Central Virginia partners of Susan G. Komen for the cure. After a thorough grant review process, the grant was recommended for the full funding amounting to $50,000.00.

The Cancer Center, in partnership with Susan G. Komen for the cure Central Virginia supports breast cancer awareness and provides breast cancer screening and treatment services for the uninsured and underserved in our community.

Regional Cancer Center Centers of Alan B. Pearson has received a check for $29,554, sold for promoting cancer patients funds from the sale of Pink T-Shirts during October cancer awareness month.

Lynchburg, Sam's Club, Lynchburg, firefighters, Pepsi and other local companies, together with students from Brookville High school, Jefferson forest high school, heritage high school and Lynchburg, Christian Academy sold the shirts and raised money from other fundraising events in October.
