PA <b>breast cancer</b> Coalition - FAQ

How does the PBCC differs from other organizations cancer?

The PBCC is the voice for breast cancer survivors in PA since 1993.  Our focus is only breast cancer and only Pennsylvania.  We hold events and Pennsylvanians to educate in all corners of the State. We work with a small 8 paid employees, so our overhead costs are minimal compared to the larger national cancer organizations.  About 83 cents of every dollar donated by people like you our innovative and award-winning programs goes directly towards aiming at finding a cure for breast cancer now... so not to have our daughters.

Is PBCC of part of a larger national organization?

The PBCC is an independent organisation.  We have relationships with other breast cancer organizations, but are not formally affiliated with you.

Do you have chapters in other States?

There are others with their own breast cancer organizations and coalitions, but you are not connected to the PBCC.

Do you have local chapter?

The PBCC is based in Ephrata, Lancaster County, with an additional Office in Delaware County.  These two offices we serve the entire State with our educational outreach and national programming.  We have not sites or chapter outside of these two places.

Is the PBCC governmental authority?

No.  The PBCC is a 501 (c) 3 non profit organization.  While we of public welfare have relationships entities such as PA Ministry of health and the PA Department with some legislators and Government, we are not a government agency.

To do research?

The PBCC is no Research Institute.  Our activities and programs geared towards education, outreach, advocacy and research.  We fully support through the off income tax research grants, which are awarded cancer researchers to Pennsylvania and grant our Potamkin research of breast cancer.

Run by mammography?

The PBCC is not mammography or medical facility.  We do no medical procedures, nor do we give medical advice.  However, we have relationships with many medical centers anywhere in the community and support women age each year receive 40 years and a mammogram from an accredited institution.

How many employees takes people nationwide to do the job, you do?

Believe it or not, there are only 8 paid employees in the PBCC.  This dedicated and hard working staff several donor agencies each month the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition Annual Conference with 10-12 workshops for approximately 900 participants coordinated and brings our travel 67 women - photo exhibition 67 counties: facing breast cancer in Pennsylvania ™ to six communities across the State each year.  While we have only 8 paid employees, we have a wonderful network of volunteers who help spread the word about our work in Pennsylvania.   To be one of our volunteers fill our online voluntary survey.

Where does your funding come from?

About 46% our funding comes from State and Federal Government grants, 23% of grassroots fundraisers, 20% partner corporate donations to our annual Conference and 11% from other sources such as dividends and investments, market purchases, honor/memorial gifts, community health charities/CFC/SECA/United way donations and General donations.

Where does my donation go?

PA Breast Cancer Coalition (PBCC) Fund Usage ChartThe PBCC is integrated to provide tax incentives to contributors as a 501 (c) 3. Better Business Bureau standards require charities spend all contributions on their stated causes at least % 50. More than 80% go all donations to the PBCC towards breast cancer education and outreach.  About 83% of donations go towards our award-winning programs: friends like me ™, the income tax check-off for breast cervical cancer research, the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition Annual Conference and our travel photo exhibit 67 women - 67 counties: facing breast cancer in Pennsylvania ™.  11% Of your donations is towards fundraising costs. 6% goes toward administrative costs such as salaries for employees and office equipment.

Are donations to the PBCC tax deductible?

Yes.  We welcome all donations.  It is important that meets the following criteria be:
